Snowmastodon Madness!

In 2010 a remarkable once in a lifetime discovery was made at Snowmass Village. An “Ice Age Menagerie” (to quote Kirk Johnson the curator at the Denver Museum of Natural History) was unearthed during construction at Ziegler Reservoir. More than 500 bones of mastodons, mammoths, Ice Age bison, deer, a Jefferson’s ground sloth, and other small animal species were found. A  fun website to check out is snowmasstondon.com.
